Across the world, despair and suffering increases daily as the global economic and political powers reinvest in their methods of colonialism and subjugation. In real terms, that means the worlds most brutalised, weakened and systematically deprived communities suffer in more desperation than ever before. Charity does not fix these institutionalised problems, but it does keep communities going, it does bring certain degrees of hope and it brings sustenance instead of starvation. Ramadan is a time for reflection, strengthening faith and consistent commitment to action. In our individual pursuit of goodness, our shared humanity is our greatest strength.
Your donations this Ramadan will work in multiple locations and with multiple purposes. Whether you are donating Zakat, Sadaqah Jariyah for a loved one, Fidya to replace you missed fasts, or a regular daily donation to purify your fasts, your donation can make a meaningful impact in a multitude of issues.
GAZA:
We have launched our very first tent school in Gaza – a place where your Sadaqah Jariyah on behalf of your loved ones, will impact the lives of thousands of children - Gaza’s future. Your donation will inspire the new generation of nurses, doctors, artists, writers, engineers, historians, village elders and parents of Gaza.
SUDAN:
Our Medical Centre provides hundreds of victims of the Genocide in Sudan with immediate primary medical support. For people in desperate situations, having access to free healthcare and medicine is life saving support you can provide this Ramadan.
ROHINGYA:
The Rohingya camps in Bangladesh is the world’s largest refugee camp. Your support over the last 8 years, has meant an increase in the number of students and women we support in the camps. As of this year, we have taught more than 1300 students and supported more than 2000 women. Your donation can act as a legacy – building futures and community doesn’t just happen – your continuous support has meant that Rohingya survivors of Genocide are heard, have the agency to write their own history, and hope for the future.
West Africa:
There are 2.9 million displaced people in West Africa. Boko Haram and similar organisations have ravaged communities in Nort East Nigeria. People have been displaced, and homes and livelihoods have been destroyed. In their most critical moments, your support will provide access to clean and safe drinking water. This water is a lifeline – and will allow people to bathe, perform wudu for daily prayer and wash their deceased loved ones. In Ramadan, making a commitment of Sadaqah Jariyah for yourself or your loved ones is a beautiful lifelong donation and the best way to do this is to build a water wells for this community. Water is hugely scarce in this region and your support is life changing.
Across all locations we will be providing Hot Meals during Ramadan at a cost of £7 per family.
We will also be providing Food Packs in each region at a cost of £60 per family for the month.
